Simple chat app with BYOK
By General JeppoThe app in one line: a simple two-screen chat app — type a message, get a playful, pun-loving reply — where all your chats and notes stay only on your phone.
What BYOK means: "Bring Your Own Key." Instead of the app owner paying for AI use, you paste in your own personal DeepSeek API key. It's stored encrypted on your phone and sent only to DeepSeek, and any usage is billed to your own DeepSeek account (the app itself charges nothing).
Remember to prompt that the APP should use BYOK. This most likely works with other providers too like OpenAI, Claude, Google Gemini, or Grok. You can probably use Open router as well.
How to get one from DeepSeek:
- Go to platform.deepseek.com and create a free account (top up a small amount of credit — DeepSeek is pay-as-you-go).
- Open the "API keys" page: platform.deepseek.com/api_keys
- Tap "Create new API key", copy the key it shows you.
- In this app: Settings → paste the key → Save. (It's shown only once on DeepSeek's site, so copy it right away.)
The app's Settings screen has a link that opens that same DeepSeek API-keys page for you. Note that without a key with credit, the app will tell you to add one rather than replying.
